16 poets, 16 poems, one live art performance, 32 visual pieces and a gallery full of people listening and looking—what a great evening at Artworks on Friday. The exhibit remains on display through this month. The gallery forms the hub of artists’ studios, so access is limited, but I understand you can usually get in between 1 and 4 weekdays.
Next up: poetry inspired by Rocky Mountain National Park, this Thursday, after work and before dinner: 5:30-7 at the Loveland Museum and Gallery.
Several local poets will read from their work and the work of others, including some previous artists-in-residence at the Park. The reading will take place in the Foote Gallery in the museum basement amid an exhibit of photographs by Harold Dunning, who, when he wasn’t adding value to the community by doing things like founding the Loveland Museum, climbed Longs Peak over 100 times. And Jim Disney, a two-time RMNP artists-in-residence, will accompany the reading with a slide show of his photos—this will be a great way to get a taste of his exhibit of RMNP photography which will open at the museum in July.
Why is everything happening on Thursday? See “Beth’s Picks” to the right for information about several other great events in Loveland and Fort Collins—this reading is early enough that you might be able to also make it to another!
