Professional
actress Carrie Lee Patterson presents herself as Susan B. Anthony in a
one-woman play at the Loveland Museum and Gallery this Thursday, March 12.
Patterson, who
grew up in Loveland, is visiting to give us an inside look at one of the key figures
in the Suffragette movement.
The event starts
at 6:30 in the Foote Gallery/Auditorium.
Come early
so that you can also view the VOTE: A CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION art exhibit. Be sure to get a booklet so you can read the
poems local writers created in response to the art.
Patterson’s
Thursday performance comes on the heels of the news that Jane DeDecker’s sculpture,
Every Word We Utter gained approval from the U.S. House of Representative to
be installed in Washington D.C. The process, which may take almost as long as
the one for the right to vote, now moves to the U.S. Senate. Anthony is one of the six suffragettes
featured in DeDecker’s piece.
While
we are waiting on congress, we can hear from Susan B. Anthony herself, thanks
to Carrie Patterson, on Thursday!
The
event is free, although donations are encouraged. It doesn’t get better than this.
