Encounters at Artworks in May

What happens when a visual artist and a poet encounter each other?  Sparks. Convergence. Magic. Tightly woven words and images.  Mirrors. Ricochets.

Come see for yourself TONIGHT (May 5th) at the opening of Encounters: How the Light Gets In, an exhibit in the South Gallery at Artworks in Loveland.

The thread running through the show is a line from the late Leonard Cohen song “Anthem”: There is a crack in everything; that’s how the light gets in. (Cohen likely was inspired by the Rumi line The wound is the place where the Light enters you.)

The artist/poet pairs were given the Cohen line as a starting place and took it from there—in many different--and wonderful--directions, as you will see.

In addition to tonight’s opening, you have two other opportunities to see the show:  next Friday, May 12 during night on the town (6-9 p.m.) and on May 18 at a reading of the poems from 7 to 9 p.m.  (You can also access the Gallery weekdays from 1-4).  The show runs through May 26.

The doors open tonight at 6 and brief comments by a few of the artists and poets will commence at 6:30. Artworks is at 310 N. Railroad Avenue.
