Wow! The opening of the Art
and Science exhibit at the CSU Curfman Gallery last night was fabulous: ‘great
to see such a turn out (including so many dear friends)! The show runs through March 24: take it
in. I intend to go back and visit with
the art the way I visited with the people last night. I am fascinated not only with each piece but
also with how the overall exhibit is a work of art in itself.
Now, on to the next note . . .
I don’t regret my life (not that I am done yet), but if I could do
some parts of it over, I would study (academically) the connection between writing
and healing/coping/living full (like the Hospice program Nancy and Roni created
and curated for years; like the Writing in Prisons project orchestrated by my
colleague Tobi).
I want more proof, I want more truth about what I know.
I think this would be an interdisciplinary study through English,
Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology . . .
Here is a link to an NPR story about the possibilities for making
every day—even if you are blessed with many of them--count through POETRY (of
all things!): http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2017/02/20/514558968/can-poetry-keep-you-young-science-is-still-out-but-the-heart-says-yes
And don’t even get me started on the healing properties of
knitting!
