CSU Art and Science Exhibition

"Study the science of art and the art of science."
Leonardo da Vinci

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 21, the CSU Art and Science Exhibit opens in the Curfman Gallery at the Lory Student Center at CSU.  The motif of the show is the intersection of science and art.  I took a sneak-peak: it looks fabulous.

A reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 tomorrow in the gallery.  The show runs through March 24.  Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday 12-7 p.m.

Angela Canada Hopkins and I have a collaborative piece in the show: one of her stunning paintings inspired by a cancer cell is paired with a poem I wrote in response. (You may have seen this piece at Artworks in Loveland previously, we have since titled it Mettle.).

Getting to the Curfman, (which is in the South East corner, first floor of the student center) is a bit more of a challenge than usual due to several constructions projects. Public (metered) parking is available North, South and South East of the Student Center.

The North Lot (directly West of the Library, South of the student center) is the closest walking distance to the Curfman (in the SE corner of the center).  You have to enter (on Pitkin) off Shields. The exit, on South Drive permits only a right turn on to Shields (to the North).  Also, after the 25th this entrance/exit may be closed to cars entirely.

The parking lot to the North of the Student Center is accessed from Laurel (best to take College rather than Shields there), turn South on Meldrum (one street West of the Oval).

A small parking lot to the South East of the Student Center is usually available to the general public after 4:30 (5:30 on Tuesdays).  You enter from the EAST side of campus on Pitkin and drive just shy of the turn around (Pitkin does not continue through); the lot will be on your right. From there you walk diagonally to the NW to reach the Student Center (passing the Library on your left).

If you are up for a slightly longer walk, you might choose the parking garage on the South side of Pitkin just after turning on to campus.

If all of that doesn't scare you away, see you at the show!
