Well, if you are looking for something to do last minute tonight: the uthor of The Language of Flowers will speak at 7:00 PM (doors open at 6:30) at the Fort Collins Hilton. No charge.  First come, first seated.  Here is the information from the Poudre Library District, who is sponsoring the reading: "Diffenbaugh's moving debut novel creates a portrait of an unforgettable young woman whose gift for flowers helps her change the lives of others even as she struggles to overcome her own troubled past. The Victorian language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions: honeysuckle for devotion, aster for patience, and red roses for love. But for Victoria Jones, it’s been more useful in communicating grief, mistrust, and solitude. After a childhood spent in the foster-care system, she is unable to get close to anybody, and her only connection to the world is through flowers and their meanings."

And thanks to one of my Salon members who brought this lovely poem to my attention (from the pages of a Zen calendar:
My heart that was rapt away
by the wild cherry blossoms--
will it return to my body when they scatter?
--Kotomichi
