So much is going on for writers along the Front Range in the
coming months: check out my pick of upcoming events to the right!
The autumn writing season kicked off wonderfully at
Anthology in Loveland last Thursday with a reading by Veronica Patterson; this
poet never disappoints!  I particularly
admire how she mixes into her readings works she has committed to memory and “speaks”
to the audience: to me this removes a layer of distance between her and the
audience.  Filling an entire reading with
such recitation might me too much, but a few provide a salt which enhances an
already rich meal.
We get another chance to hear from Roni, and many other
wonderful Northern Colorado writers, this coming Friday and Saturday and the
Feed and Grain on Railroad Avenue in downtown Loveland.  Install: Story is a compilation of
artists working in multiple media to tell life stories through art and literature.
Lynn Kincanon’s installation, and accompanying book, is the story of her
Loveland Art Collection, the poetry that she has written in response to
the pieces, and the artists’ inspiration for their work in their own words.
Among the other twenty or so local literary artists reading from their
own work and that of others on the performance stage during the event are Bill
Tremblay, Maria Dunn,  Jack Kreutzer and
Sharon Anhorn.  This multi-media extravaganza
runs Friday evening (September 13) and much of the day Saturday, so you have
lots of opportunity to drop in for any part of it which fits your schedule.  Check out the Web site for more information:   http://www.installstory.com/#!performance-artists/c1bf2
