What a wonderful Frost-y evening Thursday night at the
Loveland Museum and Gallery this last Thursday. Kudos to
Kincanon, Patterson and Orman for once again bringing good writers, musicians,
and audiences together.
I was so
impressed with the quality of everything!
The open mic
portion of these quarterly events continues to reveal hidden talents in town (at
least I am repeatedly astonished).
Most
importantly, I think these events invite people into the poetic space (whether
poetry or not, whether reading or listening!).
For me, the
highlights were hard to choose (I don’t like picking favorites), but the duet
between Lynn Kincanon and Franklin Taggart was so beautifully paced. Olivia Lowe’s story of local lore was
wonderfully constructed. And Carlol Rehme’s
story just STANK (if you were there, you know this is praise): how fun that she brought the skunk in
question along.
That Lorrie
Wolfe closed out the evening is a testament to resilience: so good to see her fully back in action
(although she hardly missed a beat).
Now we are
likely headed into a time of quiet reflection and raucous celebration, maybe
even a little writing, but not many public readings or workshops, at least for
a week or two.
I did just
receive CSU’s spring reading schedule, so I will get those dates published
soon.
On to 2017!
