Back in the Saddle!

Well, I have been neglecting this blog lately, but have just updated events and here is a long awaited (and long) post.

You may notice that I have changed the look of the blog:  I was just cleaning things up and thought that maybe it was time for a refresh.    I also made a separate page for “Words Wonderful Words” and will eventually move all of the entries off the right hand column:  that area was just getting a little crowded.
Lots going on in the local writing world this month, but then that is to be expected as it is National Poetry Month.  In celebration, Writer’s Digest will once again have a “Poem a Day” prompt.  Check it out at: http://www.writersdigest.com/whats-new/2013-april-pad-challenge-day-3

And please take note of a few events coming up:
May 7: The first ever Second Letter Salon:  what do you do for excitement when your writing group has been together for a while? You stir things up by having a reading.  We will gather at the Wild Boar Coffee shop in Fort Collins from 6-8:30 p.m. to read from the work we have been accumulating over the last couple of years!

April 24: Battle of the Bards finalists read at Old Town Library in Fort Collins, 6:30-8:30.  I am thrilled that Salon member Linda Grey-Wilson is among the finalists!  Come hear her wonderful piece about the mighty redwoods.

April 14: If you happen to be in San Francisco, check out my daughter's performance of various poems by Emily Dickinson set to music (there well over a thousand settings, but she isn't doing them all).  She has invited me to join her and read a few:  I am thrilled!  Learn more at her website:  http://www.katemathews.com

And speaking of readings:  the Poets Coop will have a reunion open mic reading this Saturday from 1:30-4:30 at the Loveland Museum and Gallery.  It is a great place to get some exposure for you work and to practice your “standing in front of a crowd and reading” skills.  You can sign up to read when you arrive.

And much, much closer in time—tomorrow night (Thursday, April 4) catch the latest CSU reading series event: Graham Foust & Marly Swick (Fiction & Poetry) Visual Arts Building Hatton Gallery, CSU campus.
