Not to Miss This Week

Two promising events this week.

Saturday, at Old Firehouse Books, catch Jim Work reading from and signing copies of his new memoir DON'T SHOOT THE GENTILE Signing and launching of, a humorous memoir of his first years of teaching in a small, mostly Mormon college in Utah. 232 Walnut Street, Old Town Fort Collins. James Work is the author of fourteen books, including two award winners--the anthology PROSE AND POETRY OF THE AMERICAN WEST and a book of essays and memoirs, WINDMILLS, THE RIVER AND DUST. At CSU he taught English literature, literature of the American West and nature writing.

Three Voices reading at Avagadro's in Fort Collins on Thursday, October 27, 6:00 p.m.

Read more about both of these events under "Beth's Picks."

And the publicity nightmare/dream come true of the week (maybe the decade): local author Lauren Myracle gets enormous press coverage after being mistakenly informed that her book Shine was nominated for a National Book Award: Click here to read more. Lauren, you go girl! May you sell more than the winner.
