Here is a notice I recieved about a publishing opportunity:
"The editors at Sport Literate, an award-winning print literary magazine, are excited to announce our upcoming contest to celebrate 15 years in existence! We're offering two cash prizes--for the winning poem and essay-- plus publication in our next issue. All entrants will receive a copy of the anniversary issue and all submissions will be considered for publication.
Writers, Make Your Mark!
You need not be a runner, a man, or even remotely athletic to compete in Sports Literate’s 15th Anniversary issue. Toe the line with your finest essay or poem: $200for the best essay, $100 for the winning poem. All entries will be considered for publication, and all entrants will walk away with a copy of the historic volume. No fiction, please.
Ready
We strongly prefer online submissions. Please remove your name from the manuscript. Our submissions tool contains a Notes field. Use it to include a bio about yourself and your work if you like. Use PayPal for the $15 reading fee, which also buys you the anniversary edition. If you must, snail mail may be sent to our post office box with a check for $15 (Sport Literate 2248 W. Belmont #20 Chicago, IL 60618).
Set
Editors will read all entries and select finalists to be sent anonymously to our two judges: Philip Gerard will choose the best essay and Frank Van Zant will judge the poetry. Winners will be announced in September 2010.
Go
Postmark deadline is June 30, 2010!
