Wabi Sabi
Have you heard of the concept of Wabi Sabi? It is the celebration of the beauty of the imperfect: the haunting elegance of a dead tress; of contrasting feelings: when we are sad and happy at the same time (when our children leave for college!). It reminds me of the Leornard Cohen lines: "Ring the bells that still can ring/Forget your perfect offering/There's a crack in everything/That's how the light gets in. Everything is cracked; that's how the light gets in." How might this concept inspire your writing? Click on the title here for more information. Here are a couple of related videos as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca2Ly4Vpb5Y, featuring a cat and cat art; and this one with Baxter Black and horses (although not much about wabi sabi)!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ry4BE2WEgw
